Located in the North Richland Hills area outside of Arlington, Texas is the Patriotic Pig. It originally started out as a catering business before moving to food trucks. Today, they have a successful brick and mortar building where they serve their delicious barbecue.
The owners, an Army veteran and his wife, of the Patriotic Pig started their barbecue catering business in September of 2016. They had a friend ask if they could cater a business event and their business took off from there. Last year they catered over two hundred and fifty weddings and numerous other events.
Marc Smith, the owner, believes strongly in the Second Amendment and has posted a sign on the door saying they allow people to carry guns in their establishment. Their amazing barbecue has given them over four- and one-half stars with over one hundred reviews.
Beef Slabs of Texas is located at 2000 Highway 157 N in Mansfield, Texas. Mansfield is only thirteen miles from Arlington, Texas and is a worthwhile drive for those who love beef jerky and unique rubs for their home barbecue.
While Beef Slabs of Texas is more of a store than a barbecue restaurant, they sell everything barbecue. Founder, Scott McGinty, got his start by making small batches of beef jerky and selling it at trades hows and farmer’s markets. The demand for his beef jerky grew inspiring him to open his store. He specialized in selling local products then added a butcher section. Their meats are locally sourced and had cut to order.
Sadly, Scott died in 2018 but his family has kept on his tradition of making their beef jerky in small batches by-hand. They have a strong online rating of four point seven stars.
